Try cranking it with your foot pushing the gas pedal down about an inch. If it starts then, the Idle Air Control vavle is not operating properly. If it still does not start when pushing the gas pedal , you can check the fuel shut off switch behind the passenger side kick panel, to the right of the passenger footwell area. There should be a hole in the kick panel and it may have a picture of a gas pump with a line drawn through it or say fuel shutoff and the switch has a red button. Make sure the button is pushed all the way down. If these are not the problem, it could be a bad fuel pump, or relay, or engine management problem and will need to be diagnosed by a professional.

Hi Beverly,
As someone else just typed - has the item got plenty of fuel?
If on a hill, as with many vehicles, all the stuff runs to a corner of the tank. No go.
In desperation, as I have been known to do, enlist some assistance, and push the thing back down the hill for a "bump-start" If that all fails, could well be an ignition fault. That could be for an interesting variety of reasons, but if the battery is up for it, take a spark-plug out with suitable socket-spanner thing, put the HT lead back on & bung the threaded bit against the engine casing whilst someone cranks the thing over. If it flashes nice and blue, to be untechnical about it, that is probably not the prob. Seems like a fuel lack or bunged up bit of the fuel system.
Anyway, all the best,

(That was all a bit general info, but it is 1 in the morning, I feel I may well retire soon)

you need a lot more info than this if you are going to get any useful troubleshooting

there could be a thousand reasons

you need to provide information like, is the starter motor turning and it won't catch, or does it not make a sound at all, or does it click

many tauruses do have a collision switch that disables the fuel pump if you get in a wreck of even a big thump

there is a reset button somewhere in the trunk (check your owner's manual)

again, that is one idea out of the blue with no information to lead to that conclusion

there are many many reasons why a car might not start

the more information provided the more likely that someone can provide some useful ideas

I,m wondering how long it was on that hill. Was the engine pointing up or down?

Also beleive it or not I had trouble starting my taurus a few years ago, and the batteries in my.car alarm were wore out.
After replacing the batteries..beep beep and the car started again.

1) Check for gas
2) Check oil levels
3) Might be the alternator.

Could be any number of things but from my experiences with an old Saturn its always the battery and alternator. Went through at least 4 alternators in 10 years of driving it.

In some cars there is an emergency shut off switch on the passenger side. you may want to look under the carpet to see if a wire came unpluged. It will be near where the dash board and floor board meet.

first you should see if it has fire to the spark plugs. it is not uncommon for the ignition module to fail. if it has fire check for fuel pressure. possible fuel pump failure.
