I am a science teacher and I do teach scientific method. When you learn it and apply it in your daily life there isn't anything that you can't figure out.
Step One: Ask a question
Step Two: Answer your question (this is the hypothesis which is an educated GUESS)
Step Three: Design an experiment. This is just the way that you state how you can try to figure out or prove/disprove your answer.
Step Four: Do the experiment and record your data
Step Five: Analyze your data.
Step Six: Draw a conclusion from your data.
Hope this helps. I usually ask my class, once a week, to "ask a question, any question". One of them was "what is your name"? They went through all of the steps and figured it out.

okay, you planted some geraniums last year and they grew nicely
this year you planted some more and they didn't grow well at all, never bloomed, some even died
your old ones were still doing well
what happened? thats the problem
now for some observation - you look at the plantings and you try to think how they are different
they were watered the same but the soil is probably a little different
also the sunlight is quite different, the other ones were mostly shady and these new ones were full sun
hypothesis time: we hypothesize that geraniums need to be shady to grow
experiment time: we buy a few dozen geraniums and we plant a half dozen in the same soil as last time but with a little shade tarp errected, and a half dozen nearby in the same soil without the shade, then we plant
some more out near where those first healthy ones lived but out enough to be in the sun
we monitor measure and observe
and conclude at the end of the year that our hypothesis was correct, or incorrect, or still up in the air, or whatever we conclude
that is the first scenario that popped into my head
you can make up ones you like better
all you need is a problem to solve
then a hypothesis about what might be the answer, and then testing to confirm or deny
have fun

Experiment, observation and inference are scientific methods. You have asked a question. That is an experiment. All answers like this one are not based on any science. That is the observation. The inference is to create a scientific scenario you need not be scientific.

i was always tought that the scientific method can solve any problem. like if u are having car trouble. u use the 1st step state the question or problem which is why isnt my car working then use step two which is research by looking for signs in the car for the start of the problem the 3rd step hypothesis u do think well maybe my car isnt working because of the battery then u experiment in the 4th step by jumping the battery then u collect data in the 5th step by seeing that jumping the battery worked then u draw conclusions in the 6th step and conclude that the battery caused the problem and u need a new battery u can apply these steps to any problem as far as i know

Hi. The scientific method requires careful observation and recording of data. The more the better. Pick some thing that you see everyday, like students who wear hats, and compare this to male vs female, freshmen vs seniors, etc. Then draw a conclusion.
