Why do women worry so much about how they look?

I think it's because the media and society has made it to be such a big deal for women to look extraordinary. When some women can't match up to that standard, it makes them feel like they're not good enough. Once it starts, it doesn't stop. Another factor, men who rate and judge every woman they see. Noone has a choice to how they look like when they are born. If we did, we'd all look perfect in the way we want. Another reason is that there are people who judge people all based on looks. After so many years, standards and ideas are built up in our heads with what makes a person beautiful. People go so much into their looks just to impress sometimes, but more so, they just want to shut those criticizers' mouths so they stop bothering them. I'm sure we all know that beautiful women's clothing is hard to wear. They make us suck in our waists, stuff our chests, freeze from the weather at outdoor parties, and all that just to look pretty and impress. It's just a major factor of impression. Like I said before, noone gets to choose what they look like when they're born. Just take good care of yourself and the beauty will naturally come out, worry free =) People see your face before they see your heart, so take good care of yourself and treat yourself better. Look good for the sake of yourself, not for others.

It varies in degree depending on the woman. I think most of us want to be attractive...which often means worrying about how we look and trying to fix our so-called flaws. However, the old saying is true..."Don't judge a book by its cover!" You cannot tell the inside of a woman when looking at her outter self.

u dont worry about how yu look i will cause u never know what might happen and u dont wanna look jacked up and slanky when your around boys or going out in public so thats why women worry so much about how they look

Because they're instinctually driven to attract a mate. Men are drawn toward things like clear complexion and symmetry of features which indicate good genetic stock; while women are drawn to men who are confident and "alphas" whether this be physical strength or social *********.

I think its society that feels its important for a woman to look nice and "feminine". What I want to know is what is the point? when a woman doesn't conform to this, why does she have to be ( socially penalized, the stares and such).

you like it when people praise you. you say you don't care when you can't make yourself to even look good. thus, you won't have self-confident.

true, ppl should judge you based on ur intelligent. but if you are not physically attactive, no one will TRY to explore you at all.
