Both, sort of.
The ultimate purpose, of course, is for reproduction. However, if that's all there was to it, people would never do it. So, there has to be some sort of incentive. We evolved into creatures that experience pleasure from the act of reproduction, because those of our distant ancestors who experienced pleasure were much more likely to reproduce.
