"The President is merely the most important among a large number of public servants. He should be supported or opposed exactly to the degree which is warranted by his good conduct or bad conduct, his efficiency or inefficiency in rendering loyal, able, and disinterested service to the Nation as a whole. Therefore it is absolutely necessary that there should be full liberty to tell the truth about his acts, and this means that it is exactly necessary to blame him when he does wrong as to praise him when he does right. Any other attitude in an American citizen is both base and servile. To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public. Nothing but the truth should be spoken about him or any one else. But it is even more important to tell the truth, pleasant or unpleasant, about him than about any one else."

I don't understand why you people always think that the reason that society is failing is because of one guy ruling a country. The world is pretty much the same as it was when clinton was ruling. War, famines, and poverty will come and go,and it's not your rulers fault, face it, this is society. how many years have we been in war?? ever since human kind began. No one likes it, but then they just got to grow up and live in society. Everyone knows that the government is corrupt. They have always been, and theres nothing you can do about it. So why make a fuss about it? in the olden days if you questioned your ruler you would've gotten beheaded. Now I'm not siding with anyone, I'm just saying that you gotta open your eyes and understand this is the way the world has always been and it's not George Bushes fault

Henry VI has it precise. it relatively is the duty of WE the persons to look over what's happening in this government. it is not unamerican to question authority. it relatively is our precise to! Many have confidence that pulling out of Iraq would reason turmoil and chaos. however the information are that it substitute into chaos formerly it is going to proceed after the actuality. My question would be, what undertaking? We have been first lied to approximately WMD's. Then Al-CIAeda breeding grounds as quickly as we entered. i've got confidence that sure there are terrorists there, yet there have been no longer till now we overthrew Hussein. He hated terrorists as much as we did and killed an outstanding variety of them. Now Iraq is a relentless civil war, and we are contained during it. additionally, congress by no potential declared that war. it relatively is an unlawful war it extremely is bankrupting u.s. as all of us be attentive to it. we would desire to concentration on our very own united states of america, our human beings. that's what concerns the main.

First of all, have you ever been in U.S. armed forces? I'd bet a hundred bucks that you haven't. It's people like you that give Americans a bad name. This country has it's faults, but it is still the greatest country on earth. The majority of Americans elected this president and like him or not, should stand by him. He has made some very difficult decisions to protect this nation. Some of them are not popular, but had to be made. You are one of the idiots that has forgotten 9/11. Shame on you.
If you don't like what's going on here, go to Iran or some place you'll be happy. I know that I'd be much happier knowing you were there.
From a combat veteran
I received your email and tried to give you an answer. But the coward you are blocked my email.
So, here it is. You didn't answer my question. Have you ever been in the Armed Forces? If you had, your attitude would be different. Thousands of guys died to give you the right to do what you're doing now. I don't think you have a clue what this countries about.
Try it somewhere else and see what happens.
Idiots like to trash other people to feel better about themselves
I THINK YOU ARE A COWARD. But don't let that worry you. God blesses cowards too.

The problem is that we don't live in a democracy...it's a republic. If it were a democracy and individuals' votes counted, there'd be no need for the electoral college. If you don't quite believe we're a republic, recite the "pledge of allegiance" once...not that it *proves* anything, but the verbage was carefully composed once upon a time.
As far as the propagation of ignorance...remember, if you keep the masses ignorant, they'll accept whatever you feed them. The nature to question is, IMNSHO, among the minority...I think that Americans are by nature lazy, therefore the majority is happy to accept what's given to them because it didn't require effort. Feed them religion, opinion, fear, and superstition, and you have control. Dubyuh and company have a very aggressive media machine for this very purpose.
Ignorance is easy...it requires no effort whatsoever.
Remember, the media is only as liberal as the conservatives who own it.

It's not that one questions... it's the slander, the out and out lies and fabrications, the ranting, the endless whining, and all this with no constructive suggestions at all. Did we hear an apology for the accusations in the Valery Plame incident? NO... not a peep... You people would rather see the country fail or be attacked again than to give any credit to President Bush. To question is one thing, to actively try to sabotage his efforts is, to me, treason and *VERY* UN-American Your whole "question" is a conglomeration of miss information and lies. That's why so many think that *YOU* are UN-American.

this is the LIBERAL boston globe you are citing...liberals definition of fact is 60% truth 40% lies...so can't trust your site...i don't care if you want to question the president...its OK...but there is nothing liberals do but question, slanders, demonize, etc...our president...i personally didn't like Clinton at all...but i respected the office...liberals don't show the same respect...Clinton did far worse for our country than Bush has done...we have no economic clout when dealing with China now that's to Clinton signing an unconditional and unending trade with them...meaning if we have trouble with their policies...our government can't stop trading with them now...even though before we had the choice...which remembered kept many companies out of China on a large scale until Clinton signed that deal...many American jobs went over there because of Clinton...we were attack several times by Al Quaida under Clinton...he did nothing about it...hoping they would just go away...then 9/11...

I read it all and it took a little time but held my interest all the way. Even the links was just as interesting.
You know GWB did not get in office legal? But explaining that is for an other topic.
The best way to speak out would be to not vote in Rep or Dem. Pick an independent if one is available. If not pick a Dem.

DO NOT remind me of Bill. My small company almost went broke under him.At the time I had 31 people working for me and now thanks to G.W.s tax policy I have126.So i guess I am part of the 10% that benefit from tax cuts.Yes he has done things I do not approve of but over all he has done good by me.No one is perfit , just look at the rest ofgoverment. The only people crying about the standard of living are those who want what you and I have but DO NOT want to work for it.

You answered your own question: They are ignorant!
They are always telling me to leave when they have done nothing and I was in Vietnam!
They also haven't a clue what the 1st Amendment says!
This is in my states Constitution!
[Art.] 10. [Right of Revolution.] Government being instituted for the common benefit, protection, and security, of the whole community, and not for the private interest or emolument of any one man, family, or class of men; therefore, whenever the ends of government are perverted, and public liberty manifestly endangered, and all other means of redress are ineffectual, the people may, and of right ought to reform the old, or establish a new government. The doctrine of nonresistance against arbitrary power, and oppression, is absurd, slavish, and destructive of the good and happiness of mankind.
