I cut off my finger and thought I would never play guitar well
again. It took months to get feeling back one therapist told me to
rub it gently daily. this stimulated blood flow and it's a brain
exercise. I'm sure depending on size of laceration
and amount of nerve damage would play a huge part in healing
time, and amount of regained feeling but brain stimulation to arm
is something they are seeing amazing results in.

Below is one of many links I found, but your best bet is to research the specific type of injury & surgery you had.
I've had TENDON damage to my left hand, but not NERVE.
One "Old wives tale" used to be that brain cells didn't grow back, but modern science has proven that they do....only slowly.
My guess is that the more complicated the cells are that are being regenerated, the longer it takes.

There was a story recently on our local news about a man who has had Brain Damage from a Stroke, I believe, for many years and is just now beginning to show signs of returning to Cogniscience.
Apparently His Brain has found a way to "Rewire" itself.....That's amazing!
