I think it's sad that there are actually places like that. I mean, they have no idea if the dogs are healthy, where they came from or what they are like. But they still do it. I just wish there were some way to stop it.

Don't buy puppies from the newspaper, websites, pet stores, and so on. Only buy puppies from shelters, rescues, and responsible/reputable AKC breeders and encourage everyone you come into contact with to do the same.

Write your legistlators to show your support of PAWS---which will regulate animal breeding and require federal licensing and inspection if you sell/register so many litters of dogs a year.

Report any cases of abuse or suspected puppy mills to the proper authorities.

I am a PETA member.
On PETA's website there's a toolbar in the upper right hand corner that you can type in a key word - like Puppy Mills - and it'll link you to websites like www.helpanimals.com and others that are actively fighting against anmal cruelty of all types. There's also a link for you to join and get active in the fight again animal cruelty by becoming a PETA member and doing your part to help the poor defenseless puppies ;(
Good luck and thanks for caring.

many places have laws against puppy mills. check your areas rules and if none, get a petition started and try to do something about it. the humane society may even help if you're serious enough about it to try to change things.

support spay and neuter drives or help start one. ive lived in places where a vet will volunteer their time for the drive so it cost like five cents to have it done. if your animal is not breeding material - it should not be bred. only buy from breeders that are very careful with their breeding and dont necessarily breed all the time. get yours spayed or neutered.

You can write to your local Representative in Congress who represents your district.

You can also start a petition that you want this terrible practice to stop and send that onto the Representative in Congress.
