Actually they throw the posters away. U need to put your name on back of the poster and tell the owner of the store, not the worker in the store that u want this poster when they take it down.
Its either yours or the trash can , the owner of the store will tell u this.
Most time the owner lets u have it. The worker in the store dont want u to have it cause they want it themselves.
Believe me...I worked at these type stores.

Technically the photographer of the photo owns all of the rights to it and thus any profits from it would be theirs. The advertising is set up in the stores directly by the vendor of the products and the photo they bought from the photographer is owned by that company. Models and celebrities some times sign contracts and own their own photos, but this is not the norm. Your best bet is to try and acquire it via a low level store clerk or bager. Good luck,
Remember the very cause of your frustration is the same reason why memorabilia is so valuable; they are hard to get.

Here is a tip ...
If you want a promo item don't ask the manager. Go to a clerk or someone on the sales floor and ask them if they will sell it to you when the promotion is over. Most of the time five bucks is enough for them to do it but the larger standees might cost you ten bucks. It saves them the trouble of trashing them and carrying them to the dumpster. Most of the time they are more than happy to help you out, epsecially if they have those comment cards. Tell them you'll fill out some of them with their name on them if they'll help you out. Don't get too eager about it, they might think that you are a secret shopper.

The posters don't belong to the store, they belong to the promo company. They usually send them back and the company re-covers them with the next promo. Try a different GAP store, though. I was told the same thing at a different store, but the girl asked which one I was talking about and she took it down and gave it to me. Occasionally you get a nice person who knows what she can get away with. Or...ask...which day they might be throwing them away...sometimes they say they "can't" give them to you, but they might let you know what day they will be thrown away and where you *might* be able to *find* it...

I agree! I wanted a Victoria's Secret lifesize model, an 'Elvira' poster & a 'Superman Returns' poster too. There should be a place to go to buy these special pieces of artworks!
Oh wait...we have computers & search engines & electricity & money....

You know, there is always somebody higher up you can talk to. You said you went to the manager right? Well, go back and either pester him/her some more or ask to talk to his superiors. I bet a problem like this could be easily solved if you just agreed on a price.

Find out who puts the displays together and maybe they will give you the poster when they are through with it.

Any store I've known would give them to whoever wanted them....so that's weird that they would rather throw them out. Do you know anyone that works there? If so, try to get them that way.....it helps to have connections!
