During the late 19th century; 1865 - present, African Americans that were previously skilled slaves taught their trades to whites. The whites taught this to other whites they then formed "good ole boy" networks and shut out blacks.
Immigrants arrived that were white or could "pass" and were hired over blacks.
These are just two factual reasons, coupled with racial discrimination, so newly freed slaves or young African Americans could wholly support themselves. Of course it is much easier if you have money to make money, but in their case...
Unfair hiring practices, segregation in schools, robbings by goverment officials, lynchings, the list goes on and on.
This in turn has bred frustration, discontent and among other things hate.
