If you are referring to Yahoo! Answers, it seems to have been an internal idea. Yahoo! earlier had a service called Ask! Yahoo and Google has had Google Answers since 2003. However, Yahoo Answers has sparked impressive growth with over 40 million qestions and answers. It is now number 3 in the reference section of the Internet behind Wikipedia as at June and it has grown since then,
