Hot water will do. But wash it after that even if it is clean to remove stain like remains if they are any.

There are two ways that I know of. #1 which I find somewhat successful is to use a hot iron with a brown paper bag to absorb the wax. Put the paper between the iron and the jeans. #2 Put the jeans in a kettle of boiling water. Might fit rather tight but the stain should be gone.

I've tried the ironing way and that actually made the wax set in more. What worked better was freezing the jeans (actually left them in the freezer over night) and then used a toothbrush to get the harddened wax out. Took a while, though.

Put another piece of cloth over the wax area and run a hot iron over it. The wax will melt underneath and be absorbed into the other cloth. It will not help if the wax contained dyes that have stained the material.

Use a hairdryer and a paper towel. Place the paper towel over the wax and use the hair dryer to re melt the wax. The same method work on wax and carpet.
