While all children may grow at a different rate, the following indicates the average for 1-year-old boys and girls:
Weight: average gain of about 8 ounces each month, birthweight has tripled by the end of the first year
Height: average growth of about 1/4 to 1/2 inch each month

Well that depends on a few things. every baby is different and grows at a differnt rate. Sometimes it can even matter with sex too. My daughter is 13 months and weighed 20 lbs at her 1 year. But we have friends whose baby weighed 24 lbs who is a boy and another friend who has a girl that weighed 18 lbs at her year. As long as your baby is growing at his/her own rate there is no need for alarm. have you seen the growth curves? check out this web site it has the charts for the average length and weight to age ratios.

but overall I would say between 18-24 lbs.

It can vary depending on how large the baby was at birth.
Myfirst son estimated wieght of 8 lbs at birth wieghed 19 lbs at 12 months.
My second son estimated wieght of 9 lbs at bireth wieghed 17 @ 12 months.
My third son estimated wieght 10 lbs (actually 10#5oz) wieghed a whopping 24 lbs at 12months. He was also born at 24 inch long, and was 32 inches at 12 months!

Babies should weigh approximately 3 times their birth weight. A little more if they were preemie and a little less if the were large. Being a parent brings out the very best and the very worst of our fears. Hope this helps you rest for a minute.
