And, if I believe correctly, as time has progressed, and I'm talking just 1 or 2 thousand years, we have grown signifigantly taller, on average. What is the cause of this? Evolution, or just differences in lifestyle?

there more teahcology today which has made our society and life much easier. a man dosn't have to walk a mile every day in order to get fresh water or fire woods for cooking or hunting for animals. another reason is that there are less wars and man are no longer living in one big empires but in states which has united them more than an empire.

Sorry to disappoint your evolution theory, but short japanese came here and there children grew much taller than their parents. So I have concluded that it was diet. If you have the chance to check with the japanese community please do so for further confirmation

It has more to do with better nutrition and health care than evolution.
