It does say that on the jar but I dont believe it... I think its just a ploy of the baby food companies to sell more baby food.

it depends.. if you feed the baby from the jar then no i would just throw it out cause the babys salvia mixed w/ the air and the unused food can start producing bacteria but if you just open it and put some in a dish then yes its ok to put back in the fridge but you would need to use it within a 24 hour span,

OK Everyone has said almost the same thing... If you don't believe ppl about the bacteria thing try it yourself... Get some Baby spit and put it with a bit of food in a jar and place it somewhere ( fridge, Counter) and come back later that day or the next day and that food will be watery and gross looking... It will take longer in the fridge...
The Baby's spit has special enzymes that help him/her digest his/her food so it will help digest it anywhere especially an undigested jar of food...
What I do is serve some into a bowl to mix with cereal and put the rest into the fridge if I need more I usually just get the rest of the jar so I don't bother with a new "clean" spoon...
This is my second child and I help take care of my nieces and nephews when they were young .... They are all grown up now and have not died after eating out of jars that were opened and stored in the fridge!
I hope that you have fun raising your new little as the first 3 mths are the best you'll ever have!

Guess what? You're wrong. :P

Seriously, every time that you put the spoon back into the jar, you are carrying back digestive acids from the baby's mouth that will break down the food and after a while, things will grow in the food. Not good for the baby.

Sorry, I know it's hard to do when the babe is so little and doesn't finish the jar. You CAN spoon out small amounts into a bowl and put the rest still in the jar into the 'fridge for a day, though.

Make your OWN. Get a blender, buy fresh fruits and vegetables (or frozen). Wash, cook, blend, cook some more. DO NOT add sugars or jellos or salt...spoon the hot mush into a very clean ice cube tray, cover with saran wrap, freeze. When frozen, pop out the baby cubes into Ziploc bag and label. Use a cube or two as needed, microwave less than a minute to thaw or warm. You can prepare this on a weekend, have plenty for the rest of the week. If baby is 6 months or older, blend some of your fruits and veggies or soups for them, so long you don't use fats, spices, etc before you take some out for blending. After-wards you can add your spices, salt or butter, whatever, for the rest that you eat. This is healthy and cheap. You can also control the portions better this way, because a cube is less than what is in a jar. Baby can have a cube of sweet potato and peaches and be happy. Or a cube of rice pudding and a cube peach-apple puree. You be the cook!

if you feed the baby right out of the jar using the same spoon then do not reuse it. Take out the amount of baby food that your baby will be eating you can then keep the rest of the food for the next time the baby eats. but after the germs from the baby's mouth goes back in to the jar of the baby for it will cross contaminate the food left in the jar

This is especially true if you are feeding the baby directly out of the jar . The baby's saliva is breaking down the nutrients as well as contaminating the the food, which may make your baby sick. However , if you have only just opened the jar and not fed the baby from it , it probably will be okay, but the air hitting combining with the food may break down some nutrients.

If you feed your baby out of the jar saliva is introduced along with bacteria. This can make the food deadly! It isn't worth the cost of a new jar to put your infant in harms way. You can however pour some out and refrigerate leftovers for the next day, but sure as you do they'll be hungry and eat the whole jar. Also don't microwave food- it destroys nutrients). Welcome to parenthood! (It really is wonderful- and even better when the grand babies come along!)

If you fed the baby out of the jar you are not supposed to re-use it because the spoon has gone from mouth to jar and germs can grow in the food in the jar...but if you pour a little out of the jar and feed it to the baby and never dip the spoon into the jar then you can save what is left in the jar.

It should be good for a couple of days. But if you feed the baby right out of the jar it should not be saved. The saliva from the spoon will sit in the jar and make the food taste bad.

I have tested how long it takes for bacteria to grow in used open babyfood jars and trust me it's toxic. A baby's saliva goes back into the jar along with whatever germs were on the baby's face, bib, or whereever else you scraped to put the food back into their mouths. if you want to reuse the food in the jar here is a recommendation. Open jar put the amount you want to feed the baby in a dish, heat. Take the rest and put into an airtight container. Voila, no waste.
