Is the South ruining the nation?

The South = AL, AR, LA, TN, MS, GA, NC, SC, VA, WV, KY and 1/2 TX
Everybody should know the source of our problems:

Why don't you look at the demographics before blaming the location. Who lives in the south? Who are causing these problems. Example: Why is the public school system in New Orleans one of the worst if no the worst in the country? Who attends those schools?

Woah...I just did the same research about divorce rates...I was surprised when I calculated the average between south and north by the US census and found that the average rate is twice if not more higher than the north.

I live in the south almost all my life and I STILL can't get used to it. Especially after I traveled to different places. I realized just how crazy the south really is. And I had many people down here tell me how mean the north is....I actually found myself getting along with northerners more than I ever did in the north.

I think it boils down to tolerance levels. The south have the least amount of tolerance for many things....hurts alot of people.

I live on a corridor to South Texas. I see thousands of cars heading South with Minnesota, Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Nebraska, New Jersey, Ohio plates. Wonder why that is. If the North is such a great place why are so many people FROM there? And once again, do you wish to help change it? Or do you just want to piss and moan? If you can enlighten us, go ahead. We remember the oil boom of the 90's. We are still trying to collect rent and wages from East Coast and Northern business men. Sorry Chuck, you assertations do not hold up.

Culturally and economically and in many other ways the south is different from the north but that does not mean for a second that it is not worthy to be part of the union. Think about the shared history of the the north and south.

i cant believe in 2006 there is someone out there who still has the north vs. the south thinking or should i say lack of thinking . some one like yourself needs to wise up and realize we are a nation made up of all different people that live and have the freedom to do so ,problems exist in this country everywhere you just chose to show your ignorance by saying it all is in the south

The economy of this region is not as strong as in other areas. A strong local economy brings in a more tax revenue, better schools, better infrastructure, and then more investment.
