I have a friend who married a man from another country who promised that he was in love with her. Yet, since their marriage he moved out of their house and has his own apt. which she is not allowed to visit. They spend no time together and recently, she found out he's been using her ssn to purchase items on credit including the apartment which she is not allowed to see. He lives a completely separate life from her and it's painfully obvious that he's using her. She's very hurt but doesn't know quite what to do.

She needs to divorce him asap. If they were recently married then she can get an annulment with no problem. If he gives her any problems then she can always go to the authorities and report his activity. In the meantime she can call the credit bureaus and tell them her situation and they will keep a fraud watch on her ssn so that she isn't responsible for whatever this guy tries to do.

Yes... a person who marrys for the express purpose of gaining entry to a country can be reported.... Check with the immigration and naturalization service..

http://www.uscis.gov/graphics/index.htm

She also needs to contact her local police department in regards to the use of her SSN... immediately

She also needs to contact an attorney and get a divorce/annulment...

If you friends spouse is not a naturalized citizen he may have a condition on his Visa stating that he has to live with his wife and such..

Your friend should have all the information as she would likely have been his sponsor to gain entry into the country...

She can ask that the marriage be annulled because it was based on fraudulent purposes (in family court), then report her filing to the INS (Immigration and Naturalization Service). Best to see a family lawyer.

Notify INS for the immigrant thing, and the police re the ssn and credit issues. Kinda common sense here....

You could take an illegal immigrant to the US immigration office and they still would not do anything...Nobody cares anymore except for Nick the Dick
