Listen to the whole of White Pony. Either actively or passively.
Listen to it at least everyday or every two days for one week.
Then you'll start to get the musical (vocal, guitar) style that the Deftones is known for.
Listen to it until it reinforces your belief that they are a great band.
Then you can't start exploring their other albums. Try whole albums, not just singles.

I love the Deftones. Changes isn't their only great song though. Try Minerva or Judith.
