I am a high school senior considering Ohio University, Depauw University, Miami (Ohio), Northwestern and Syracuse. I kind of want to stay within five hours or less of home (Columbus, Oh). What do you think?

Northwestern and Syracuse have the best journalism programs of the schools you've mentioned.
However, both Ohio University and Miami University are "hidden gems" for journalism study, with OU a bit better than Miami.
You've selected some great schools, given your "close to home" restriction. I strongly suggest that you visit the schools you are considering. I did my PhD at Syracuse, I teach at Miami, and I've spent a bit of time at Northwestern. All of these schools have VERY different campus cultures and resources, and in the end, it is about which school is the right fit for you.

what about ohio university. well i can tell you what school to do bt teh ultimate decision is up to you, but the're al pretty good schools.
