For Pete's sake, he was quoting someone from way back when!!
This is the problem today, when the Muslims get upset just because of a quotation ( not necessarily his own belief) the first thing they want to do, is start burning, and rioting. Could that be why the Muslims have the reputation of being violent? People talk about the church I am affiliated with all the time, but do I go out and kill innocent people because of that? NO ..Ridiculous.!! And by the way, I'm not Catholic, just tired of this mess of always having to be "Politically Correct." Enough is enough....

Muslims around the world are upset with the Pope's comments on Islam. They say it's a religion of peace so what do they do? Riot, burn effigies of the Pope, and more.
The Pope spoke the truth and now Muslim groups are condemning the Pope and demanding an apology. How did the Religion of Peace around the world react?
Outbursts in India, Turkey, Pakistan, just to name a few. Is this the new Mohammed cartoon episode?
Predictably the Muslim world took offence, and sadly more predictably this was followed by the burning of effigies of the Pope and riots in many countries. . . . Pakistan’s parliament unanimously adopting a resolution condemning the pope . . . Turkey – which was one of the first countries to react strongly . . . has now shown its true colours
Benedict, who used the terms “jihad” and “holy war,” repeatedly quoted Manuel’s argument that spreading the faith through violence is unreasonable, adding: “Violence is incompatible with the nature of God and the nature of the soul.”
All correct and historically accurate. The Pope was right.

There was no right or wrong involved. It was not a statement regarding Muslims. It was a report by the pope of what a 24th century religious leader said about the Muslim religion.

The Pope was giving a speech in a University. He was quoting, not making statements. The media took it, twisted it (big surprise) and the Muslim have once again over reacted. Although this was not the Pope's intention the Muslim leaders around the world have sure driven the point home that they are not in fact a religion of peace and have brought the popes words to life.
The pope was correct NOT to apologize.

I believe he was right in what he quoted. After all, rather than muslim leaders leading a dialog about the quote, they resorted to violence and firebombing churches.

Looks like the pope needed to point that out.

He hit a homerun!

Its high time the Catholic Church faced their age old enemy instead of ignoring them and hoping they go away. Fact check and study everything he said and you will find it to be true.

The pope is wrong in everything he says about Christianity, so why would Muslims be any different?

Neither. While it was silly of him to quote that particular source, that one quote was taken out of context. If people read his whole speech, then I think they'd see the point that he was trying to make.
