1999 GMC Safari 4.3. The engine turns over but will not start. I changed the fuel filter and the fuel pump is working, but it still won't start.

I believe this model has a distributor. the ignition module in the distributor is probably bad. You can take that out and take it to the nearest auto parts store and they can test it for you.

Yes, find the fuel pressure fitting on the fuel rail. When uncapped, looks like a tire stem. Poke it and see if fuel comes out. If you have fuel pressure, Check your spark by pulling the coil wire off the distributor or, if distributorless, each of the wires off the plugs. See if it sparks when connected to a plug grounded to chassis when cranking.

Maybe the anti-theft system is not disengaging. Try turning the key to acc., leave it on for 10 minutes. Turn the key off, then see if it will start.
