Why is there such a divide between the Westernized world and Muslims? When I read about the Pope’s remarks and the response it has created makes me wonder what has happened in history to cause this. It seems like these two sides will never get along, sometimes I feel it’s safe not to be associated with any religion whatsoever. Before the Pope’s remarks I was wondering why there was such turmoil between the Jews and the Muslims, with the recent Lebanon – Israel clash I really started to question why this turmoil still exists. Will it ever stop?

Do you really think that if you are not associated with any religion whatsoever and others follow suit that there will be peace in the Middle East? It is a struggle for power and control as much as it is for religion.

I don't know, but something very strange is going on in this new world, and I wonder if anybody else is picking up on it as well?

It's almost like somebody is writing a new page in history, and we are supposed to get caught up in it like the folks did during W.W. 11.

When the new millenium broke out, the next thing I noticed was that the news sounded different, and today all we get are alerts and bleeping noises and "Breaking news" reports, when most are mere auto accidents (God knows, we have plenty of those to kill each other with).

And now, it's boiling down to religion, and clashes between Muslim factions and anybody else who gets in their way.

Then I hear from the first answerer on top (leadfoot), saying that all religion is bunk, and there ain't no God...I stop and pause for awhile and ask if not for the birth of Jesus Christ, would anything be going on anywhere?

That would mean no Christmas, and no hope and no praying and basically living a dull and boring life, worse than most computer nerds do these days.

I know Christmas is not what it once was, too commercialized and all that, but then again, no Christmas, what else would there be in it's place?

Nobody knows where or how this strife between religions will end up, but bear in mind, even within Christianity, there is conflict going on.

What is needed most, I believe, is a meeting between all the religious leaders of the world, and see if they can plan ways in which all religions can live in peace.

That will never happen, economies depend on wars to keep them going, and we are in the early stages of a long drawn out war against phantoms they call terrorists.

Its all because of religion. Muslims dont accept new ideas from other places, they stick to their own religion which is Islam I think(8th grade stuff for me, if u guys r older than me u guys should know why). They try to live a good religious life getting good karma, by following their duties in their social structure(which is dharma if i remember well).
Im not very sure, i might have mixed Buddhism with Islam or Sikhsm.

I don't think so I think all this is because we all live in different worlds and we do not understand any one else religions, what Americans be live in is so far from what the Muslims be live that we will never understand, there's is a totally different culture.in the middle east so we should let them fight it out among them self's

Because the Muslim world is overwhelmingly uneducated. The only book lernin they get is what their religous leader tell them to read and they interpret the information for them. This creates an easily manipulated population that power hungry parasites can feed on.

You doubt me? Look at how easily even educated people in the western nations are manipulated.

This whole "God" thing is a superstition that's gone way too far. See what believing in silly stuff gets us. We should learn to be responsible for our own actions and quite "blaming Satan" for evil and being an unseen and unheard "boogeyman" God.
Same for the Muslims.

It's about time to realize, there ain't no "Big Kahuna" in the sky lookin' down.

It always was a silly story.

The Muslims for the most part have the belief that if you are not Muslim you are what they term an infidel and deserve death. That is what I am lead to believe at any rate.

Because of the differences in culture and faith. Culture clash was here before us and it will last long after.
