Check the Equity, SAG, and AFTRA websites for the names of guild-authorized agents. These are agents who have proven themselves to act ethically (in theory, anyway) and according to union standards.
Be prepared, though. It's not as easy as calling up and saying, "I'd like you to represent me." Most agents will not take on a client without some idea of whether they can get them work. If you're in a show or a showcase, they can get a better idea of your abilities; although even then, there are no guarantees.
And whatever you do, DO NOT pay anything in advance to be represented. Anyone who asks for up-front fees is not acting legally.

It sounds like Kittyrogers needs to get a life. I understand you are asking a question and did not want to get slammed by bitter answers. Well, I do not know a good acting agent there, but I can tell you to make sure that you have some experience. School plays, community...that's important. Do you live in New York or LA? If you do look up some agency's in the phone book! Wherever you live, even in the boondocks, there is some kind of agency. Set up a meeting. Make sure you have a reseme, or they won't take you. Good luck!

Mail your resume and headshot to the talent agents. If they are interested, they will call you for an audition. They do not like telephone calls, so don't call them.
