I'm 31 now and have always used one -- I pretty much grew up with the notion that not using one could kill you. However, I have friends in their 20's who scoff at the idea because it desensitizes it. Is this a horrible new trend? Could we be facing a new AIDS pandemic in the GLBT community?

My b/f and I have just started with sex. He is more experienced than me but hasn't had a lot of partners. So far we do mostly tickle to orgasm, and he fingers me, and we both stroke each other off. We do oral sex sometimes w/o condom but we both agree when we start anal sex we will definitely use them. I can't say about other dudes my age, (19) but most of my gay friends don't like to wear condoms because it doesn't feel as good. I think there is still no cure for AIDS and you can get it from sex, so to use condom is only good sense.

I grew up pre-aids and loved sex without. Then came a long period in the closet. When I came out my lover and I stopped using a condom because the sex was so much better without.
Later on it turned out he was HIV+
Fortunately even though I was exposed repeatedly I did not become HIV+
I guess I had luck, but I also put it down to using lots of lube and general good health.

Condoms are a drag and HIV is no longer regarded as such a threat. So to get young people to start using condoms more we need better condoms and more information about what a drag HIV can really be.

Churches, governments and people working with the young ought to be doing more to get this message over.

Just saying no to sex is not a realistic message and is just as idiotic as the "Just say no to drugs" message was.

People do drugs and sex because they enjoy them and take them away from other grim realities. We can't all be rich so let us at least have fun.

they arent using enogh condoms becase they are still getting aids, every single case of one person getting aids is catastrophically horrible and almost always avoidable, until 20-30 year old gays stop the spreading of aids among eachother, condoms are not being used enough

Not that I am aware of. I am 26 and do not know of anyone that doesn't use one unless they got tested a year to their last partner!

Why don't you ask the STRAIGHTS, they comprise 80-85% of all AIDS cases.
