It was a writing pad and envelopes in a small mock croc case, from a favourite auntie when I was 10 years old. lAuntie and notepaper long gone but the leather case they were in is now 50 years old and and contains my will and other important documents.

Last year after being released from a 6 year stay in a Turkish prison, I was freed and spent Christmas with my 2 boys, 10 & 11, I read "Twas the Night Before Christmas" to them with only the light of the tree.

Going to work on Christmas Day. Dec 24th, 2002 at 4:00pm, my husband walked out the door, leaving me with a 2 year old girl and 15.00 for the next 2 weeks to llive on. He took a 500.00 paycheck and left us destitue, So you see, having a job and fighting through the holiday was the best ever. So, if you ever find yourself in a tight spot, think of your child and fight your way through.

My ex mother in law gave me matches and kindling for Christmas. I am not making this up. The next year she gave me a bag with the wrong initials embroidered on it. Okay, these were the worst but really who cares about the best. I got a bar of soap from an Aunt one year...plain soap, like Dial. The matches and kindling were definately the worst!!!!

My daughter, Rebecca (Becky) was born Dec. 22. She is now a registered nurse working in a surgical dept at our local hospital and has given me 4 beautiful grandchildren. She has been a big help to me...especially last October when she literally saved my life when I suffered complications after a botched surgery by taking me to a different hospital to a different surgeon. I'll never be able to repay her for that.

A Scalectrix kit. Unfortunately, I overheated the transformer and the house burned down. I'm hoping for a replacement this year.

Oh this is too romantic really. A guitar.
From that, I joined a band, got married, had kids, changed to a better job. Joined more bands, made new friends, taught guitar to great kids.
No guitar? Life would be unimaginably different.
