Personally, I believe that Katrina was far worse that 9/11. Yes, 9/11 was a horrible tragedy. But if we look at the cumulative toll on the respective people in the area, Katrina comes out ahead. 9/11 affected the lives and families of about 6,000 dead and injured. While Katrina claimed a little under 2,000 lives, it has displaced hundreds of thousands. I live in San Antonio, where we continue to host evacuees. As for the warning time involved, I will go out on a limb and offer the fact that from the initial paths indicated by the weather service, they had 2 weeks to evacuate. Again, that is way out on a limb, considering they really only had maybe 1-2 days. Now, 9/11. The warning signs for 9/11 began about 10 years ago. So, as far as warning time goes methinks Katrina is still much worse. I know, your going to say that they didn't know "exactly" where they would hit on 9/11. Well, they also didn't know "exactly" where Katrina would hit either. Now let me ask, say you lived on the coast somewhere. There's a category 4 storm headed in your direction, but they don't really know where its going to hit. Do you leave your house and possesions that you have worked hard all your life to aquire? Floridians usually don't, but then again the governor of Louisiana isn't related to the President.

By the way dsfsdg d the hundreds of thousands of lives lost in the middle east were not due to 9/11. They were due to an extremely poor choice of enemies by our Idiot in Chief, who by the way could have done more about Katrina. Osama is still at large!!!!

Hurricane Katrina was an act of nature and 9-11 was a well thought out and coordinated plan to kill as many innocent people as possible. Those who planned 9-11 have tried to do it again. Hurricane Katrina never will.

I am totally surprised that anyone would ask a question like this. Did Hurricane Katrina plan to assault a nation and kill thousands? Of course not! Sept. 11 was a planned act by human beings out to inflict damage on other humans, the hurricane was a force of nature and certainly was not planned by humans..........draw your own conclusions from this.

i think 09/11 was worse.. it was a planned by terrorists...and i think many more people died there. But of course Hurricane Katrina was bad too but this for example was a natural disaster. but i hope that things like that never have to happen again

I don't know how many people died in each, but I would say that September 11 was worse because it was planned by people and Katrina was a natural disaster.

1,500 in New Orleans, and it doesn't count other states!

2,752 in Trade Center

The long term impact, Katrina is far worse and could have been prevented! As New Orleans sank, Bush cut the flow of federal dollares to be used in Iraq and Homeland Security and wanted death tax cuts for the rich!

He had cut the Corp of Engineers for years and the lack of response of Fema was due in large part due to budget cuts! Most in New Orleans saw no rescuers for 3 days, while people died!
