You want to sell books? Have you tried looking up Booksellers in the Yellow Pages?
As for recycling, you may need to look that up in the phone book, too. Call the City of Springfield and ask for the Sanitation Dept., recycling is usually covered in that department.
You may also want to call upon antique dealers. Some of them may take books, too.
If all else fails, check you local public library. If the library can't put the books directly into its collection, the library may have a "Friends of the Library" group which will take your tax-deductible donations and sell them for the library.
If you still want to sell them, try this place
bookrecylcer.org
This is a company which takes old/used books and finds buyers for them. There are some requirements to follow, like buying a scanner and packing them up and shipping them off to Idaho, I think.
I have looked into this for my library's Friends' group. It seems above board and you can make a profit if you have the right books. You have to pay for the scanner (but you get your $ back when you're done with the program) and you are responsible for shipping the books out. It may be worth looking investigating.

There is an old book shop on North Glenstone Ave. I think it's called ABC Books. It's either between Commercial and Division Streets or north of Commercial.
There is also RMB (Redeemed Music and Books) which is across from CPO on Republic Road and National.

You could try selling it first and see what kind of price people are willing to put up for it. I'm pretty sure that you could get a lot better price that way than recycling it.

You could always have a yard sale... what doesn't sell you could take to the local school and dump in their recycling bin. Nearly every school has those big bins outside as a fund-raiser for the school.
