Just use common sense. You are in a muslim country and therefore you have to respect some rules. You can wear skirts but avoid minis even though in tourist areas or beach resorts nobody is going to attack you for that. Avoid wearing them in popular areas of Cairo or Luxor though, it is disrespectful. I have walked all over Cairo, Alexandria, Luxor etc, with a t-shirt (no I don't show my belly button) and it was perfectly ok. You have to cover your bare legs and arms while visiting a mosque, which is the same as visiting a church.....
Mind you in December it is not burning hot so you will probably be ok with just normal clothes. Pants are always a safe bet and so practical. And don't forget a sweater, nights in upper Egypt can be coolish.
You will find bars and night clubs in basically all the big hotels and yes you can wear jewelry, just be careful where you go. Pickpockets are not an Egyptian exception. All in all the Egyptian people are nice, war, and friendly.
My only advice, don't give in giving money or buying anything from the little children that try to sell you a pack of kleenex or something like that as you'll find yourself surrounded with 10 others.
Also when you are visiting any place, even a mosque or a church in , you will find someone "helpful" who will try to convince you to use him as a guide. Be firm and say no, they are only trying to get some money from you.
Have a wonderful trip.

I was there last year. I heard that its good to keep your arms and legs covered all time. I did and it wasn't a problem. Alcohol is pretty much illegal so there's no bars and probably no clubs. However, foregners are allows to purchase 3 bottles of alcohol and 3 cartons of cigarettes from the duty free stores. In fact you may even get Egyptians asking you to buy them stuff! So yeah not much booze but there is shesha which is like flavored tobbacco you smoke out of a water bong. And hash is pretty prevalent if you into that kind of thing...just don't get caught by the cops!

Jewelery is fine, just think what would you wear to your grandparents house.
