I breastfeed my 3 week old, and she always makes a clicking noise when she eats, kinda like it breaks the suction.

She latches on fine, and my nipples aren't sore.

Why does she do that?

My little boy did the very same thing. I tried different positions, pumping and giving him a bottle( which he still made the noise ) and he just did it. I think they just like to make little noises while they eat. Now mine is 4 months and likes to stop when my flow comes in and looks up and smiles at me! My doctor has never been worried about growth and he is very healthy. As long as you dont hurt and she is growing I wouldnt worry too much. The main way to know that she isnt latched is a nice flow of milk down your bra and stomach! Be very proud that you are breastfeeding her and giving the best start possible! I hope this helps!

Babies will start to do things when they discover it's new, made some sort of noise that catches their attention or yours, or just because. Usually when a baby is sucking like a bottle, a nipple, or a pacifier the clicking noise is an association to the motion the baby's making.

It is a noise caused by her swallowing. The wind pipe is shut off so the liquid can go down into the digestive tract into the stomach and not into her lungs. Possibly, this area is a little dry and that causes the clicking sound. It is NOTHING to worry about.

Take good care of yourself and your new little one, too. We're rooting for your both. Hugs, New Mom!!

its just the suction noise...
have you checked that you have a good flow of milk?
in some cases you may not be producing enough milk and she is trying to suck harder for more.
express your milk with a pump to see if she is getting enough milk.
or it could be the opposite, you could have a very good flow and she is making this noise as she tries to keep up with swallowing the milk.
just pump your milk out a few times with a breast pump and check how much milk you are producing

She might just be discovering her tounge, so she likes to click it.

Mine did that. I assumed it was their jaw clicking.
