I have over 15 years of experience in marketing. One industry that I was never involved with was real estate. I want to get started and learn and eventually become a real estate sales person. Are there options where I have to do it on my own or should I sign up to join a real estate group? Where and how do I start?

Well, first you have to have a license .. All states require formal training, testing, and licensing.
In Arizona, for example ... you have to attend 90 hours of classroom training. Then pass a school test, then pass 2 state tests.
After you get your license, you will 'apply' to brokerage firms to join their team. You will be required to maintain a minimum of 24 hrs of renewal credits every 2 years to maintain your license.

It depends what state you are in. I took my course online and the test was given at the Department of Real Estate. Search for Real Estate Test or Test passing course for your state thru Google. Call your local DRE and they can guide you. If you are in CA. let me know and I will give you a website. A lot of Real Estate offices offer a free course. That way they think you will work for them if you take their course. Make sure you take one that is a "Real Estate Test passing course" with 100% guarantee of you passing the first time. Otherwise you are wasting your time and/or money.
