Yes. Make sure you know what the contract says about how much of it s/he gets. If your lawyer pays a doctor to testify at your hearing, you have to pay that, and any other fees s/he fronted you, as well as the 33% or so allowed by law.
Also, if you are a veteran with 0%, you may be able to use your Social Security judgment to get disability from the VA.
Almost everyone gets turned down the first time. They will make snide comments about you being a gold-bricker, i.e. too lazy to work. Don't take it personally, they are trying to get your goat. Just nail them with a stare and say that if you could find a job you could do, where being distracted by (either your disability or the painkiller you take for it)wouldn't matter, you'd take it. They won't pay you for being in pain, because people work in pain every day. They WILL pay you if the meds you take cause you to get distracted and mess up or be a danger to others on the job!

for what i have heard some lawyer don't get any money until you can all of your disability paid claim then they get a payment for the work they did.
