Has anyone noticed this or is it just me

Not all old folks smell that way. What you are referring to as an old age smell is really caused from several things. Their health isn't as good & parts are starting to wear out. They have (or get) more ailments, some of which have their own odors. quite a few are losing their abilities to take proper care of themselves & if they don't have someone to help them, have trouble tending to daily hygeine, bathing, teeth, hair etc. Just think, if you're 85, how do you get into & out of a bath/shower daily? How do you bend over a sink to wash your hair? Some , because of diseases (like palsy) can't hold a toothbrush. Even have problems getting their dentures in. Please remember when you're around old folks, that they still deserve respect. Just hope when you get to that stage in your life, that people will not look down on you. Most of these folks survived WWII, and then built this country to be the great place it is today.

1. Stereotype. Healthy people of mind and body are able to maintain good hygiene.
2. Very sick people may be taking meds that are secreted out of their pores, when they sweat.
3. Alcoholics may have a uremic frost secreted from the pores.
4. Some elderly folks living alone may not have the muscle function. strength & may need assistance in bathing
5. Olfactory senses may be diminished, making it unnoticeable.
6. Cleaning clothes may not be cleaned as often because they don't have the wearwithall to do it.
7. Some may be forgetful, thus not being as fastidious with hygeine. Sometimes forgetting to eat as well.
8. Some are on a very limited budget and can't afford help.
9. If you can be of help those elderly in need, do it.

I have noticed it too. But not all old people,my grandparents never stunk. I think if they were slobs when they were younger,it just carries over into their senior years,but ten times worse.

all people smell like what they eat and many people are just smelling like old clothes. So what you thing that you are smellin may not be accurate............

probably because our bodies are decaying and dying? And they can't shower as often?
