first off..congrats!! this is just my opinion on this but..if it was possible for you to take some Internet courses i would see if i could start with that, just whenever you feel up to it. and about day care centers..my son is 9 months old and i will not put him in a day care until he is old enough to talk. it may just me being over protective but i will not put him in one until he can tell what all happen that day. but i know some day cares do take babies as young as 6 weeks.

Oh my, what a tough question! The answer to that varys from mother to mother. When will you physically be up to going back is one part - doctors say 6-8 weeks depending on vaginal or C-sec delivery. Emotionally is a whole nother story! You can try to plan all you want, but IMO you just have to wait and see. You will never know and can never be prepared for the huge range of emotions and hormones that will flood you once your baby is born. Try to work out a plan with your employer and instructors and give yourself at least 8 weeks. If you are up to it earlier you can always go back sooner, but I would think it would be tough to go back and ask for more time...

Best wishes for a fast delivery and a healthy mom and baby!

If you are planning to breastfeed your baby, you would have to stay with her for at least 4-6 months (depending on the time she is ready to start solid, around that age you will see signs that show you she is ready, for example: she seems to be interested on trying what others eat).

If you are not going to breastfeed, I think you should wait at least 6 week. Then, find out what the minimum age for day cares is in the area you live.

Personally, if I HAD to work, I would leave school for the time my child starts preschool as minimum. I have 2 kids and we decided that I would stay with them as long as we can afford it, and take some courses in the evenings so or children don't have to go to daycare.

Good luck!

Your body will have physically recovered enough (without complications) within six weeks. It would be hard for you to leave the baby in day care that young, but people do it all the time and you could start shopping around now for a childcare provider (not necessarily a day care, maybe there is a sweet 'granny' type sitter around that would work out well and maybe even be cheaper).

When you are ready you will know :) I went back to work when about 2 months after my son was born and started school about the same time, but that was out of necessity- single 19 yr old mom makin' it on $234 a month and foodstamps wasn't gonna fly for long! After I had my daughter (I was married and hubby had a job) I went back to work when she was about 4 months, and that was out of necessity too- needed adult interaction, I was going crazy! Good luck, and congrats in advance :)

I had my son in July and went back to school in September.
My boyfriends mother babysat for me, and only charged me $10 a day. I also had a lot of help from my side of the family. By the sounds of your question you don't have a large support system near you so I think that best advice for you would be to check out to see if your school has on site day care. Also contact social services and see what kind of help they can offer you and point you in the right direction.
Good for you for wanting to have a better life for you and your baby.

I went back to school 2 months after I had my daughter... basically go back to school when you have to. It sucks, but ya gotta do what ya gotta do. You can leave your child in daycare at any age... If you have help try to plan classes in the morning and at night so you don't have to leave you kid all day... Really worked out well for me. Good Luck

Most people are cleared to return to work in 6 to 8 weeks.

DEPENDING ON THE HELP YOU HAVE AT HOME.. IF THERE'S NO HELP AT HOME, THEN PRIORITY IS ROOF OVER YOUR HEAD AND FOOD IN YOUR HOME. IF YOU DO HAVE HELP AT HOME, THEN YOUR PRIORITY IS YOUR HELPLESS NEW BORN. SCHOOL & WORK FOR SELF IMPROVEMENT CAN WAIT UNTIL YOU HAVE EVERYTHING TOGETHER AT HOME. LOVE IN THE HOME IS MORE GRATIFYING THAN SPOILING YOURSELF WITH NICE STUFF......YOU GET YOUR HOME IN ORDER THEN ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE. OTHERWISE YOU WILL ALWAYS BE A MESS IN YOUR HEART.
