I would have to say that the 1986-87 team was the best of the bunch. This was the one that acquired Mychael Thompson (in order to combat Kevin McHale, should they meet in the finals). Magic Johnson was asked to carry more of the scoring load, and he delivered in a big way. He also singlehandedly won the finals with his "jr. skyhook" over Parish and McHale in game four. This was the first of the back-to-back teams.
I do, however, feel that had Len Bias not died, that the Celtics would have beat them that year. It would have been a great series to watch.

Starting at the point guard position(Magic Ervin Johnson)
The shooting guard(Byron Scott)
At center(Kareem Abdul Jabar)
At small forward(James Worthy)
At power forward(A.C. Green)
Let's not forget a couple of notable backups,(Michael Cooper)and (Michael Thompson)
In my opinion, (with no disrespect to the 80s Celtics or the 90s Bulls)this Laker squad was the greatest team of all time!

I would say the 1987-88 team. Remember, at the rally for the 1987 championship team, Pat Riley guaranteed they would repeat so they had that to live up to, in addition to having the proverbial "bulls eye" on their backs as it was.

the 80's lakers were the best because not only did they have Magic and Kareem but the 1989 Finals MVP James Worthy, Michael Cooper and Byron Scott.
