Self destruct....sometimes. The human mind has way too much thinking power and that leads to some crazy things. Smoking, drinking, fighting, and in some cases people harm themselves physically on purpose.

As a whole we always want to have power and we desire it, and we're willing to kill for it. So we're definately destructive against others.

We're just not a very polite species....I think it's our minds that lead us to this kind of behavior...animals don't have time to think about new ways to kill each other or themselves, but we sure do.

No, evolution would have wiped us out long ago if we were naturally self destructive. Are some individuals self destructive, yes, but it is not human nature. Smoking is chemically addictive, and again evolution will kill of those with more tendencies towards nicotine addiction. War is actually fighting for survival and not the other way around.

The real question is will our ability to survive better then anything else eventually kill us when we become too successful for our own planet.

I would say no, our survival skills will eventually release us from the bonds of a single planet and free us to be extremely successful throughout the universe.

Human nature at it's basic is to survive. we are bombarded by many things as we grow and learn. A value, moral and ethical system should be in place by the time we reach so called adulthood. I don't think it's human nature to self destruct. Often bad choices are made, but our recovery system is uncommanly good. War is to survive, if you are assaulted first. War by choice is Islamic.

Human nature as a whole includes every trait everyone who has ever lived has demonstrated. Of all those lives, full of their many moments, self-destructiveness is not dominant. It is not even in the top 50%.

Yes, I think that human nature does tend to be destructive. I don't know why but there must be some evolutionary value behind many of our irrational behaviors.

i do no longer think of we've been designed to self destruct, yet oh how i like the 2nd area! I, & somebody close to me have beating our heads in the wall to awaken some activity in ANTIMATTER, that's in essence, no longer something. So, sure sure, we got here from no longer something, & will bypass back to no longer something. the entire concept of antimatter could be completely nicely matched with Genesis. does no longer it rather is surprising to no longer be in conflict anymore? The unanswerable question is, how could we understand "no longer something" from "right here?" A actuality of nature: each little thing has an opposite, protons have electrons. Up-quarks have down-quarks. there's a cosmic symmetry on the subatomic point. Antimatter is "yin" to rely's "yang." It balances. i've got self belief all of us bypass back to "no longer something" in that experience. i individually do no longer choose to proceed to exist how all of us is self destructing, it is they are destroying the earth with increasing acceleration, & shabarack's answer replaced into stunning. What a ponderous question--what could we do without you to enhance our minds?

I personally think so. It's a passtime, and for some reason, unfortunately, we like seeing fights and destruction. It's netertainment and fun for our minds. It's more of a phase for most people, but some people, it stays forever.
That's IMHO.

Self destruction , to my understanding , begins when we are evaluated by family, friends, coworkers and such, and we do not measure up to their standards of expectation. Thus our worth to them is nothing.until love finds us to embrace all that we can be .
Love takes us from where we are not. from where we have been. Thus, a new beginning.

I don't think it's human nature; I think it's the law of nature.
