ok well i'm a freshman in high school and i kinda wanna do track except i dont really know how it works so i just need info on like what exactly you do and if you have to do like all the stuff, like running the mile and everything else or just one thing. yea basically i need lots of info.

so basically you can just do one thing if you want? like if you just want to run the 100 meter you can just do that and not the mile or whatever?

they have different sections on out track team. sprinters, throwers, and distance. throwers are usually the heavier kids, and sprinters and distance guys are whatever. if you do distance, you might do some relays, and the 800, 1600, 3200 meter runs....you can only do four events. if you turn out to be a real fast sprinter, i'd do long jump too. or pole vault. but if you don't have that much speed, i think you can do high jump and triple jump. it's a lot of fun.

It would depend on what you're inherently good at. Meaning, can you naturally run fast, or are you a little slower, but can last longer than your friends.
If you're a sprinter, stay in those events.
If you're a distance runner, don't compete in sprinting events.
Also, you might be good at field events instead of running events. Check out the javelin throw, the discus, the shot put, long jump, high jump, pole vault.
You coach should evaluate your natural talents, and then steer you in the right direction for you.

i started in 6th grade bc we have a small school and i liked it i was willing to run 3 miles a day and give 100% and at the end of the year i ran a 100 metter in 14.02 and now i set the record ith 11 seconds all u do is run and do feild events just try it

Well basically you can run in any event, depending on your choice or what your coach wants you to do. You just run around the track, depending on how long your distance is, you might have to do multiple laps.
