Seriously, nobody knows. The laws of physics turn out to have enabled more-or-less intelligent life to have evolved on at least one planet, and if you choose to believe that a deity set up the rules to work that way, nobody will say you nay. Scientists have been looking for half a century for a single theory that would describe all of the world's workings; they are no closer to finding one now than Einstein was back in 1950.

Maybe you are just taking it too seriously. Remember that the Hebrew word that has been translated "Glory," as in Isaiah Ch. 6 originally meant "seriousness."
So the world is the way it is, in all seriousness. Some things we can make different if we are smart. Other things are just the way they are.
The premature arrival of the future can be a very serious matter. Try to stay out of its way if you can. Cultivate detachment and never try to teach a pig to sing.

People care more about their personal interest/gain than the well-being of others. At least that's the way I see it. -_-
