It's just a trite thing to say. You hear it all the time and so it loses all its meaning. Actually it has created a new meaning. It's like saying "Hey, I can't think of one original thing to say!" Some examples of cliche things to say would be:
Another day, another dollar
Drink plenty of water, and stay safe!
Oh, I hope nobody got hurt
Listen, baby, you know I love you...but
I gotta go to the courthouse tomorrow...
Hey, I do it for the customers (yeah right)
Well, I love working with others and....
You know what? Even saying "Thats soo cliche" Is cliche! I can't stand it!!

Cliche is a French word. It just means its an over said statement. For example the line "they lived happily ever after" is cliche. I hope you understand.

They saying isn't 'that's so cliche' is is 'that is so cliched'. Or is you use it as a singular 'that is such a cliche'.
