I really want to play The Sims 2 on my main computer, but it has bad graphics so I can only play it on my mom's slow laptop. My dad bought a brand new graphics card to put into the computer, but we found out that you can't remove the graphics card! It's attatched to the computer. This is a brand new Dell computer. My friend said that you can still hook the graphics card up, is this true? If so, how do you do it?

You have to go into your device manager and disable the onboard video then shut down your computer and install the new card. When it boots up, follow the instructions. And when it askes, insert the installation disc.

First you will need to know what type of slots are available in the machine, ie: PCI, PCI Express, AGP once you find out which slot is available you can then buy the needed card to fit the slot then insert it into the slot connect the monitor cable to the new video card and once windows boots up you can install the correct drivers for the video card, once all of that is done then I would suggest that you go into control panel double click on system and then click on the + next to display adaptor and disable the onboard video card (the system will run a bit faster if you do this) otherwise it'll try to display to both display adaptors (hense the slowdown)

I hope this helps, if you have a problem you can email me with the model of the dell system and I can look up what it has and let you know what type of card you will need.

If it is a VGA card, then there should be a VGA slot above the PCI slots. These are the slots that your modems and LAN cards may be attached to. Below the processor. If there is no VGA port, and it's a DELL, so likely not, since Dell is CHEAP, the you can go exchange the card for a PCI video card. Good Luck!
