Directed by Brian De Palma and written by Oliver Stone, "Scarface" is a movie that will not be forgotten. A Cuban refugee named Tony Montana (Pacino) comes to America for the American Dream. Montana then becomes the "king" in the drug world as he ruthlessly runs his empire of crime in Miami, Florida. This gangster movie is very violent, and some scenes are unpleasant to watch. This movie has around 180+ F-words and is almost three hours long. This movie is entertaining and you will never get bored. You cheer for the Drug-lord, and in some scenes you find out that Montana isn't as evil as some other Crime Lords. This is a masterpiece and i recommend that you see this. You will not be disappointed.

I thoroughly enjoyed Scarface and having just watched the final episode in the Godfather legacy for the first time, the contrast between the two characters, both played by Al Pacino, in fine form, was very interesting.
The acting, directing and storyline in Scarface is deliberately done over the top, making it a bloodcurdling, disturbing mafiaso pantomine. For example, Scarface literally shoots up an entire army of gangsters on his own and is having a thoroughly good time doing it.... a bit like Michael Corleone on speed or Macbeth set in a modern gangster setting and no Shakespearean language.
The movie has a lot of energy and is really entertaining, even at 3 hrs long.

Do you mean the 1984 Brian De Palma remake starring Al Pacino, or the 1932 Howard Hawks original (which was produced by Howard Hughes, who was the subject of the Scorsese film The Aviator). I would recommend the original, but not necessarily the remake, which has overly-simple and banal dialogue.

The old prohibition days. Organized crime.
I lived through it and remember the end times.
Watched the "Dry *****", liquor control agents, raid houses, throwing Mason jar bottles of bootleg whiskey into the streets. Woooossh. Whole town smelled like whiskey.
Carrying out stills.
Mafia all over town. Didn't know it, but Mafia next door.
Wearing black bands after vendetta.
Murder with a stiletto. 80-90 stab wounds.
Crazy times.
It's OK. Come sit down. Let me talk to ya.

Scarface is very entertaining, Al Pacino gives one of his many great performances as Tony Montana. So many memorable scenes and quotes, some shocking and some just plain hilarious. Buy it, you can't go wrong. I have (and recommend) the 2-Disc Anniversary Edition.

If gangster films with scenes of violence, drugs and fast living interest you and you're a fan of al pacino then its worth watching.
its also worth watching for the quotes, its very possible you've heard some but never knew where they were from...."Say hello to my little friend" for example.
Scarface isn't a great movie but its achieved cult classic status.
If none of the above strikes you as something you'd like to see then maybe you shouldn't watch it.
