Yes, it is. Some women dont cycle until they finish breast feeding. Its perfectly normal. Although you dont want to trust it as a form of contraception.

Yup! It's totally normal. In fact, if you meet the standards for ecological breastfeeding, it IS a reliable form of birth control. The standards are:

1. Your baby is less than six months old
2. Your menstrual periods have not yet returned
3. Baby is breastfeeding on cue (both day & night), and gets nothing but breastmilk or only token amounts of other foods.

It's also much helped if you are also:

* keeping baby close
* breastfeeding on cue (day and night)
* using breastfeeding to comfort your baby
* breastfeeding in a lying-down position for naps and at night
* using no bottles or pacifiers

If you do those things, then according to Kellymom:

* Chance of pregnancy is practically zero during the first three months, less than 2% between 3 and 6 months, and about 6% after 6 months (assuming mom's menstrual periods have not yet returned).

* The average time for the return of menstrual periods is 14.6 months.

* Moms whose cycles return early tend to be infertile for the first few cycles. Moms whose cycles return later are more likely to ovulate before their first period.

My cycle appeared about exactly a year after my baby was born, and I was pumping (I work). Most moms I know had cycles return sometime between 12 and 15 months, so you may have quite a while yet before you have to deal with it!

Yes it is very normal. You might not get your period until a few months after you stop breast feeding. I breast fed a year and I didn't have a period the whole year. Then I have friends who are breastfeeding and they got their periods after 4-6 months. That's usually when you start solids and decrease nursing sessions so I have heard that there is a coralation. I would say that that is probably the norm and it will take another 3- 6 months to have regular cycles or you might not have regular cycles until you stop nursing.

Yes, that is even normal for a bottle feeding mother. Are you on any type of birth control yet because if you are that too may have something to do with it. Enjoy no cycles while you can!

This is absolutely normal. You usually won't see a regular period until you are completely done breastfeeding. Sometimes you will see spotting but more likely than not, you won't see anything. This doesn't however mean you cannot get pregnant. Since you probably can't start taking the pill yet, talk to your OB/GYN about your birth control options or use condoms. Good Luck.

Yes. I had a friend that didn't have a cycle for 1 year and 1/2 while she was breastfeeding. I wasn't so lucky. I started up again like clockwork.

Completely normal. I got my first period 5 weeks after delivering, which is very early, and the period was likely anovulatory. I only breast feed exclusively for a week, and then only 2x a day until my baby was 3 wks old. Usually you don't get your period as long as you are breastfeeding. It's the estrogen.

Very normal. Periods usually start again after night nursing has decreased.

I'm enjoying my 8th month of no period. With my first daughter, I got my period at around 11 months.

Yes, when you breast feed it may take you longer to start your period than if you aren't breast feeding!
