I have downloaded the visual boy. And some of the games. I read somewhere you must own the original cartridge or else you are stealing. I sthis true? I read somewhere elese it is all free.

The fact of the matter is...if you are using something that is conventionally bought and paid for, and you are not paying for it. It's stealing, no matter how you try to rationalize it.
