I definitely CANNOT sing and I am no good at writing or reading music but, I really enjoy writing lyrics and would really like to make some money doing this. I don`t care if my name is never used on anything as long as I get paid for it!!

You won't really make money writing lyrics unless you can write music too. There is a chance that someone may need lyrics written, but anyone who writes music usually wants to write their own lyrics. A set of lyrics without a melody is just a poem, and lyrics written before there is a melody are usually useless. You need to write the melody first then write lyrics to fit. No one will bother to listen to the lyrics if there isn't a strong melody.

Ah, now this is a paradox kind of question. You see, in all I've learned about marketing and selling, helping talents, businesses is this... "The product isn't the product. It is how you make people feel." Now, it be logical to assume that people buy because of cheap, better, best, fastest but not so. These are conscious level decisions AFTER the unconscious decisions have been made. The unconscious is where the decision of buying really begins.. A) It makes the person feel good B) It helps the person avoid pain C) It increases the person popularity D) They buy into exclusivity i.e. getting what most people can't get so easily E) It makes them more attractive, appealing F) It helps them do something easier and less effort So, with poems, you are not selling poems and lyrics to your songs.. You need to market a brand, a concept, an idea, that gives the targeted ideal customers you wanting to market and sell to a ......feeling. This means, if your target ideal customers are romance types, then you must create a persona of a romance type, and the adventure of romance type, and a website not just a website but a journey, and a poem not just a poem but a product that is packaged as a concept to give them the feeling they desire. So don't sell the poem or the song. Market the feeling, the desire, the fears, the hopes. Package with a loud, powerful, witty brand identity that has a compelling story that hooks them in to buy INTO the IDEA first. The feeling first. The coolness first. The exclusivity first. In other words, the song and poems are not the product. The experience they will get from beginning to end, is the product.

Try finding local bands who need decent songs and offering them your services. If they record your stuff and make it big then you'll get the royalties! Yippeee. It's so simple it must be impossible.

lyrics are only part of a song....
its the tune that sells and make the money.
bad lyrics put me off, but this isnt the case for alot of people
