Hmmm...somewhere not touristy huh? Well, i'll suggest you go to Perhentian Island or Pangkor Laut. Also, the ever famous Sipadan Island and all the islands nearby.it'll be the best place for a private retreat.

for 7 weeks, i suggest u to visit the whole Malaysia, including Sabah n Sarawak.

You can start off from KL, visit the national history museum to learn more about Malaysia, and (maybe) Central market (a lil' bit too touristy...)

Next , head to the north , preferable by land transports to Malacca.

As for the beaches, other answerers had stated out a few. U can check them out, too.

January is rainy season in east coast of Malaysia. The best places on the East coast like Perhentian Islands, an absolute paradise, are closed, so best to head for the west coast.

Langkawi is a great place to visit - just off Penang. You can catch the ferry there - about a 2 hour trip.
