everyone reacts differently, I never get moody but I might be a little more hungry during that time.... but I think we have a reason to be pissed when we're losing so much blood... which makes us weak, hungry and sleepy. Just imagine how you'd feel if someone took blood from you for like 3-4 days straight every month.

Well there are 2 phases. Just before a womans cycle she gets stomach cramps (piss off # 1) and retains water. Things don't fit the way that should (piss off #2). Her Hormones go wacky *sometimes* and on top of the previous piss offs, your questions, advances, comments or just plain ol' presence may irritate her.
Then she bleeds. (LE GRAN PISS OFF)
From 3-7 days. And that is normal. Some people bleed less or more... but that is the exception.
TAMING THE BEAST:
Give her Space, Lots of Chocolate and tell her she is beautiful.
She may cry or toss something at your head. This is normal.
Come bearing Chocolate, compliments and understanding and you will live till next week. Bonus Points for bringing MOTRIN.

Some girls and women find that they feel depressed or easily irritated during the few days or week before their periods. Others may get angry more quickly than normal or cry more than usual. Some girls crave certain foods. These types of emotional changes may be the result of premenstrual syndrome (PMS).
PMS is related to changes in the body's hormones. As hormone levels rise and fall during a woman's menstrual cycle, they can affect the way she feels, both emotionally and physically. Some girls, in addition to feeling more intense emotions than they usually do, notice physical changes along with their periods — some feel bloated or puffy because of water retention, others notice swollen and sore breasts, and some get headaches. PMS usually goes away soon after a period begins, but it can come back month after month. Doctors recommend that girls with PMS try to exercise to help feel better. And some girls notice that restricting caffeine intake may help relieve PMS.

look it up in an encyclopedia. not all women react the same way, we're all different, as we're all different in other aspects of our lives, men included. don't coddle a woman just because you think she's having her cycle, that will piss her off even more. treat her like a human being with courtesy and respect and you won't have to worry about that other stuff.

it depends on the woman. some women do not experience a change in their mood at all. other women undergo mild emotional changes, while others experience a dramatic flucuation in mood. this is due to the hormonal changes that are occuring.
in other words, each woman is unique in how her body and mind respond to her menstrual cycle.
