Wal-mart recently announced they will no longer provide lay away after November19, 2006. I am a single mother on a budget, and this service was one I used many times. I think it is a bad idea.

I had not heard that they were doing this. Just before Christmas!!! I have never put anything on lay-away (I am single and able to wait until I can afford it), but this is awful for families, especially during back-to-school shopping and Christmas.

ha! i develop into questioning an same!! I went to wal mart the different day to purchase diapers for my son, and went to the ten or a lot less line there develop into an elderly woman in the front of me with an entire cart load, had the different lines been shorter i might want to have went to considered one of those!! My son develop into very drained and cranky, we waited in the back of her for 1/2-hour i imagine she offered all of her christmas presents there, bins or not, i dont recognize what number circumstances they had to do a cost examine because she in basic terms grabbed some products off of a shelf that wasn't in a container! I in basic terms love even as human beings try this!!! i will comprehend if Wal Mart isn't busy letting someone bypass through the line yet they were packed and they prefer to initiate sticking to their guns!!!

It's a huge mistake. They may actually end up losing usiness over it. They've gotten so big they have lost sight of the needs of the consumers. THey move into a little town, build a supercenter and lower their prices long enough to put the mom and pop shops out of business and then raise th prices back up to normal and then everybody is screwed. the only good thing is you don't have to run all over town and you can find stuff at wal mart you can't find anywhere else.

Walmart doesn't care about their customers. They are billionares, so if they lose some customers by getting rid of it, it's like...whatever. Until people shopping at Walmart (which won't happen because it is affordable), they will continue to abuse their power. They will pay their employees crap without benefits, and they will continue to do things like this...

Even though I am a broke college student, I refuse to shop there. I shop at consignment shops for clothes (Plato's Closet), and I love the Goodwill store. Also, I buy a lot off of EBay for REALLY cheap. Or, shop at Target. Target's dollar bins are a GREAT deal, and they always have clearanced items. It is possible to live on a little amount of money and not shop at Walmart!

I am a mother of 7 children and can not afford to buy even so much as shoes or clothes for them without putting it on layaway. I will definitely be going to a competitor for their layaway like maybe Kmart or somthing. I believe they will have to bring it back to stay with the competition. This is going to hurt all of the low income families in the U.S. Many of them, like myself, can not afford to buy things flat out. I do layaway at Christmas time because my boys are nosey and can sniff out the presents. I leave them there as long as possible. Now my shopping will have to be done little by little and with children with me all the time, they will end up seeing it all. I can't afford a babysitter every time I want to go shopping. Walmart is making a big mistake.

they are losing money by people putting merchandise in layaway and never picking it up thus .. items not on the floor to sell don't make them any $
you don't like it? shop somewhere else where the company cares about people and not profits

Yes, I believe that they are. The lay-a-way is a great help to people that have financial difficulties. I think that they need to reconsider their decision.

Yeah, they shoudn't do that. Layaway helps people with Christmas shopping. I hope they reconsider.
