This is a VERY common scam!!
You could get in SERIOUS trouble.
Don't do it...Although,you haven't clarified what is happening very well. If she is sending you money orders to cash and wire back money to her then that is big trouble. It is called money laundering.
If it is someone who is asking you for your own money that is a common scam too. However, that is something to explore more because if you wanted to act charitably and have extra money to lose then maybe.

If your friend can have access to a computer then she's not hurting. If she truly needs the help then she needs to ask her family for the money or she can try other places where she's at for the help. It would be wise not to send this woman anything because you don't even know her and yes she may be lying to you. Just tell her that you don't have the money. If she stops talking to you then you'll know why. If she continues to ask, just say NO.

If you have nothing better to do on a Saturday night than sit in front of a screen chatting with an African Con Artists then perhaps you deserve to be scammed.

Seriously sounds like a scam to me...

if she truly is stuck then she should go to the US Embassy...but of course she won't, because she isn't stuck at all...
