I get my period every 28 days like clockwork. Now, I got my period on Aug.15 last month. I have all pregnancy symptoms like: dizziness, nausea, breast tenderness, mood swings,I'm always tired, and oh yeah am 5 days late. Now today I started to get some light spotting and always on my first day of period I get it heavy. I don't want to get excited of I'm not actually pregnant. I'm just so confused. PLEASE HELP!!!!!

Shouldn't I wait to see if this is in fact just my period coming late or just say the hell with it and take a hpt. B/c I heard that if your cervix is swollen and you have sex that some light bleeding may occur and I did have sex last night. And this might sound like a stupid question, but can having sex force you to get your period if you are late??/

If you're five days late, take an at home pregnancy test, it should work. Good luck either way, and go see your doc. ~~

If you haven't been using ovulation predictors or charting your temperature you can not be certain of when you ovulated. Typicaly, a woman gets her period 14 days after she ovulates. If you just ovulated later this month then the spotting could just be your period coming. If you did ovulate ~19 days ago and your period really is 5 days late, then it should show up on a hpt. If you don't end up getting your period it could be implantation spotting in which case a test won't show positive for another week or so.
Bottom line: Test now. If negative and no period within thenext week, test again! If still negative and no period, call your doc.
If you are actually wanting to get pregnant, I would highly recommend getting educated on how to chart both your basal body temperature and cervical mucus and position. Then you'll know each month exactly when you ovulated and whether your period is late or if you just ovulated late.
Good luck!

As I have written in an answer to a similar questions, the first sign of pregnancy is being late. The symptoms your told us about are not necessarily caused by pregnancy. Hormonal imbalance (e.g. when you are about to have your period) can cause these symptoms. If you still do not get your period, the best way is to do a pregnancy test. Be careful to follow the instruction to get the most reliable result.
Oh yeah, signs and symptoms are not the same. Signs have more value in idetifying a condition than symptoms do.

some woman can have there period during pregnancy, it may be irregular but it can happen. Take the hpt. and if you are consult an obgyn. I had my first period on both of my pregnancys. So good luck with it all. Spotting can also be due to having sex during pregnancy, because your cervix is very tender.

Well you have a lot of symptoms but the best way to tell is to take a test. They are very reliable, especially if your period is late.

Sounds like you are pregnant, and the light spotting sounds like implantation bleeding. Go take a test or see a doctor and congrats
