I just started going to school for social work and am not really sure it's what I want to do. I've heard its very stressful and I shouldnt do it. I want to get into child protective services. I know the pay isn't very good but is it worth the time?

Does the last guy imply that being a protective services social worker is not respectable? Anyway, you will make home visits in a small town or large. You will see things you have never seen and cannot believe actually happen. BUT, helping a child...what can be more satisfying? I worked in this field and I loved being able to help. The pay, while not great to start, can increase and be comparable to most social work jobs. I believe it is definately worth the time. And you will also think so when you have been on a case and really helped someone, and have the satisfaction of this when you lay down at night...

If you live in a smaller white community it might be cool but not in the large Cities because you will have to do home visits.

If you are a School Social worker it is very respectful
