Sleeping is necessary for the mind not the body. The body needs allot less rest than people would believe! We feel tired within a day and need to sleep. However it is the mind that needs the rest most. The body needs rest when there is allot of physical activity. The mind is happy with small naps and does not really need long amount of sleep to function reliably. However the "brain" needs to dream even if we do not remember them they are always generated to solve psychological issues of the day and beyond.

I dont have a source, but I took PYSHCOLOGY in colloge about a year ago....if I remember right...usually in PYSH was...WHY DO WE DREAM//////and then there were many theories on the need for the brain to DIGEST all of lifes events that day. Why do we sleep sounds more like a biology question not a PSYCH.....but that is the best I can offer......SLEEP gives our pysch the ablility to go thru the info attained....and also in theory so we can dream....which is a WHOLE OTHER bag of study in PYSCHOLOGY

Sleep is vital for the human body so that energy can be restored, the brain rested and tensions of the day eased and also for the dream state we usually enter which seems to be useful in maintaining a steady state in our systems.Sleep deprivation reduces the ability to focus on a problem and also it reduces our reactions to danger. Even cat naps can help to prevent this. One thing is certain we sleep because it overtakes us in the end thus proving how essential it is for us.

Sleep is one of those funny things about being a human being -- you just have to do it. Have you ever wondered why? And what about the crazy dreams, like the one where a bad person is chasing you and you can't run or yell. Does that make any sense?

We sleep for mental and physical refreshment.

It is a way for our mind and body to rest and build up enough energy to get us through the next day.

It's a time for the body to repai itself, clear out brain clutter (useless junk) and to stabilize health. Not sleeping is very detremental to your helath.

We sleep because we need it.

In other words.....
(quote)

Our bodies sleep to recharge and rejuvinate,so we can perform tasks such as driving, eating, and so that we can function.

What happens if you don't sleep?

If you do not sleep, you are equal to being intoxicated.

(unquote)

SO GET SOME SLEEP!!!!!
