"death metal" music or heavy metal music is to blame for murders that are committed by teens? I saw a program on A&E the other day that was concerning this matter. I personally don't care for this type of music, but, I am interested in your opinions.

I think it is a symptom, not a cause.

People who are disturbed and have hearts so broken they have twisted Like that kind of music. The darkness distracts them from their own pain.

If you have well adjusted healthy people, and expose them to the music it might elevate their levels of agression for a couple hours, but so can classical music. Back in the day certain classical pieces were considered too lurid for "good" society. Classical?!

I think no amount of death metal would take a well adjusted kid and turn him ill.

In science there is a certain set of rules an organism has to fit before it can be labeled the cause of a disease.
1. The organism has to be present in the sick one
2. The organism has to be absent in the well one
3. If you "innoculate" the well one with it, it becomes sick.

There is a 4th rule but it doesn't really apply here.
4. You must be able to isolate the organism from the newly sick one.

So according to #3...you "innoculate" a well child with the "sick" music, it would have to turn sick in order for you to consider the music a cause.

My 2 cents.

No. I think music is the expression of the feelings already there or even things we lived through in our lives, or thoughts we create. I think the music you relate to is the sharing of that same emotional state. If you like songs of murder and destruction, it's because that is in your Psyche at that time. If you prefer music about love or create music about love that's where your state of mind is. It's the same with all music. music may just show you what your subconscious mine already has created within you. Because these heavy metal people may be involved in violent acts is showing where their state of mind already was not from music but shown through music.

I saw the same thing, and no i don't believe it. It all depends on the person that listens to it. Hell, some murderers listen to gospel or country or pop.

No, if anything those teens are troubled and look to that music because they feel relieved listening to it.

Not at all. I place more blame on parents who don't take the time to make sure their kids are alright in the head.

Yes, somewhat, because it is a very bad influence on teenagers, especially the once using recreational drugs and alcohol.
